What are Natural Dyes?
For thousands of years, dyes were obtained from natural sources, such as plants
and animals. In spite of the fact that synthetic dyes have replaced many
natural dyes for commercial use, natural dyes still hold a fascination and are
used extensively by artisans around the world. The most common type of natural
dyes is acid or anionic dyes used on eggshells and wool.
What we Use?
The authentic Pashmina Cashmere use only natural dyes such as metal and
azo-free dyes. The fabric is processed using eco-friendly dyes, e.g.
non-chlorine bleach, silicon-free softeners and low-impact, azo-free dyes.
How we Use it?
The dyestuffs are boiled in water to extract the dye. The material to be dyed
is first "mordant" in the chosen metal salt, by heating in water with the
mordant. Then it is transferred to the dye bath and again heated for a
permanent, rich color.
Dyeing is also done by hand and each piece individually. Dyers with immense
patience and generations of experience are the one who dye the cashmere
Pashmina shawls, Cashmere stoles, cashmere mufflers, cashmere scarves, as even
the smallest negligence reflects on the quality of the product.
Only metal and azo free dyes are used, making the shawls and other cashmere
products completely eco-friendly. The pure water used for dying is pumped up
from deep beneath the surface. Dyeing is done at a temperature just below
boiling point for nearly an hour
